Tiny Chef wins an Annie Award!

Blell I’ll be!

At Factory (Blue Studio)

The Tiny Chef Show, starring Rachel Larson’s famous internet character, was the first 'big project’ I joined after I graduated from the NFTS. Although it was made for Nickelodeon, the actual animation and production was handled by Factory in Manchester, UK, and I was pleased to join the series as assistant/animatic editor.

Having watched a great many of Factory’s shows, it had long been my ambition to have the chance to work with the folks over there. I had great fun assembling the animatics (storyboards timed and cut with sound/music) so that directors Rachel and Chris Tichborne, along with editor Michael Cartner, had the best blue print possible for signing off on shot timings and building the offline edits.

I also assisted with clean-up and de-rigs on this job, putting my After Effects skills to good use, when not cutting. There was some challenging stuff along the way, but I loved the whimsy of the show and how well it kept to Chef’s roots and Rachel’s original animations.

It came as no surprise to me that the episode that picked up the Annie Award was Pancakes; one of my favourites, along with Guacamole! My congratulations to everyone involved. As Cheffy would say, “love you so much byeeeeeeeeeee!”
