‘Build Me Up’ wins at discover.film!
We were very pleased to accept the award for ‘Best Lockdown Animation’ - replacing ‘Best Animation’ - at this year’s 10th annual discover.film festival
It has been an eventful few weeks at BMU HQ… Which of course, is not a real place at present, but more of a concept. You’ll have to stay with me there. We were very pleased to have our film in competition at discover.film, a hugely competitive and popular festival, which this year saw over 4000 submissions. Build Me Up played to a delightful - and, I hope, delighted - audience, and the reception we received from the organisers and attendees alike was tremendously warm and exciting.
It was great to be joined by some of the team on the day, with Emma Hanson (producer), Moritz Wanger (composer), Ben Mitchell (co-writer) and Richard Fullerton (co-writer) coming out to play, as well as some of my old school friends. Additionally, two other NFTS films - Do Not Feed the Pigeons (animation, 2021, dir. Antonin Niclass) and Who Goes There? (fiction, 2020, dir. Astrid Thorvaldsen) not only played, but won awards as well! So, a great night for the NFTS, rounding off a weekend of great films and meeting wonderful people.
I used to walk past the Prince Charles Cinema hoping I’d have a film play there one day, so to finally have that happen was really special. Thanks to all involved & more news soon!
