All Alone

A heartfelt tale of a man and his dog

All Alone was my first project at the NFTS. The Directing Animation students were introduced to the Screenwriting students at the Tate Britain, and we perused the gallery looking for inspiration. Writer Ben Mitchell and I settled upon a tale of a blind man - Arthur - and his trusty Irish wolfhound, Jack. Stranded in Newfoundland in a post-apocalyptic world, a frantic quest ensues when, on one of their regular scouting walks, signs of survivors emerge; but all is not what it seems.

As we developed the project, we found the two characters had a strong bond and a need for one another; really, the title is a misnomer. For really, neither of them is alone after all.

This project was known colloquially as Project 1, and briefed as animatic-only. Later in the year, we were able to revisit the project, with Adiescar Chase composing some music, while our editor Alejandro Liechty and I went back to the cutting room, shaping and refining the story and its sound design.

With HoDs attached, all that is needed to bring this vision to life is some love, dedication… And of course, some coins. If you’d like to see the animatic or learn more about All Alone, please get in touch. There are some more stills available below.
